Thu, 04 Dec 2008 11:11:38 +0000
The God of Thunder (Gene Simmons) in cooperation with Interactive Game Group launched the AXE Guitar controller for the PS2 and PS3 on November 15 and unsurprisingly, Gene is very pleased with the product. The guitar controller is shaped just like his famous Axe shaped bass that long time fans of KISS may recall with a bit of misty nostalgia in their eyes.
Winter Items for Avatars Now Available for Free on Xbox Live
Wed, 03 Dec 2008 23:32:11 +0000
It looks like the first batch of downloadable Avatar clothing has hit Xbox Live, and it’s adorably seasonal. Right now, you can pick up a bunch of ski and snowboard apparel so that they can keep warm this winter. Frankly though, it still seems just plain stupid to shell out real cash for some virtual clothing for your virtual avatar which has no real…what’s that? It’s free!? Oh…in that case, my little avatar needs him some gloves. And maybe a hat.
Mirror's Edge 2D Now in Beta for Flash
Wed, 03 Dec 2008 23:19:01 +0000
Gaming TodayLike Portal before it, Mirror’s Edge is now getting the 2D treatment with a new Flash game now in beta. I suppose it makes a lot of sense actually, since the source material’s main feature was slick controls and acrobatics. Unlike the Flash version of Portal though, this game is officially sanctioned by EA, who are working with Borne Games to develop it. After a quick play through, I’d say this game definitely captures the same feel of the console Mirror’s Edge with it’s simple controls and smooth visuals. Actually, I’d say the game even controls better than the 3D version, since you never have to stop and look around for the next ledge to jump to.
Yahtzee Croshaw Sees Himself in Mirror's Edge
Wed, 03 Dec 2008 22:34:08 +0000
Gaming TodayZero Punctuation has returned yet again this week with a review for EA’s free-running video game experiment, Mirror’s Edge. The game has so far received mixed reviews from gaming enthusiasts who don’t relay their opinions through simple images synced to a voice over, so you can imagine how Yahtzee feels about it. There are plenty of flaws to be prodded in this game, from the disorienting first-person perspective to the unnecessary combat to the uninspiring story. As he points out though, the game was partly produced in the name of experimentation, which drives developers to create more engrossing experiences, so it’s not all bad. I just hope EA’s next experiment feels a little more satisfying.

Garry Newman has a lot to celebrate this holiday. It’s been two year since he offered his Half-Life 2 mod up on Valve’s Steam for just $9.99. Over 312,000 downloads later, Garry is thrilled that his passion could also make him a living. Do the math. That’s a lot of cash, no matter what his cut is. Garry sums the experience up on his blog.

Rare has released a patch for Banjo-Kazooie that fixes a number of glitches in the Xbox LIVE Arcade version of the classic N64 game. Unfortunately players will have to start their game over once they patch it. Of course if you don’t patch, you can’t finish it anyway.
