...I was using Windows 98 the "zoom" was functional, but with XP I cannot zoom any more...

actually i find it a very good shot! when you see the lyran shields well look at the end of it to the right. It looks like the nebula is been connected to the shield (colors are the same) nice doing and how did you get that ship into that position??

i use XP and i can zoom
perhaps something is wrong with your keyboard

About the Lyrans...
Ok, a preview: this screenshot was taken from my mod, still in development, where the Hydans replace the Federation, the Lyrans replace the Klingons and the Tholians replace the Romulan. In order to give a truly 100% compatibility with the single player campaign the Tholians can cloak their ships. Sorry.
The Lyrans' ships are fast and manoeuvrable, with good shields, but with a weak hull.
The Tholians' ships are slow and with fair shields, but a very strong hull and wide fire arcs.
The Hydrans' ships are well balanced, with good shields, fair armour, speed and manoeuvrability.
Oh: the Gorn replace the Borg.
